About Us

Kiambu Town Constituency has four wards, namely, Ting’ang’a, Ndumberi, Riabai &Kiambu Township Wards. It is one of the Twelve Constituencies in Kiambu County. Due to its close proximity to Nairobi, the constituency is metropolitan in nature.
Agriculture is the main economic activity for the people of Kiambu Constituency. The main cash crop grown in the area is coffee, while maize and beans are the main food crops.
Most productions of the food crops is subsistence. Livestock farming is also mainly in small scale with dairy and poultry farming being more dominant. The Constituency population is high, as is the case in most areas of central Kenya. This has led to increased pressure on land and consequently a decline in food production. This is due to increased sub-division of the farming land leading to diminishing returns. Population pressures on land also lead to increased environmental degradation and deforestation.
